Weekend Walk-In Workshops for All Ages!

  • Upcoming Dates: SATURDAYS: January 4 • February 1 • March 7 • April 4 • May 9 • June 6
  • Time: 1pm–4pm
  • Cost: $5 per participant (museum admission not included)
  • Ages: All ages welcome (under 16 must be accompanied by an adult)
  • Where: 2nd floor Classroom, Jim Rouse Visionary Center

Join us for a hands-on, drop-in, art-making workshop once a month in the AVAM classroom! Our Education staff will help you explore new creative territory & make a project inspired by one of our beloved visionary artists. Supplies & boundless inspiration provided!

Please Note:

No advance registration or payment required, just drop in during a scheduled Saturday to participate. Payment can be made by cash or credit at AVAM's Front Desk, or at the Classroom when you arrive. Museum admission is not included in the cost of the workshop. Workshop will run while supplies last.

January 4: Crazy Crowns

Everyone needs a crown! Create a custom royal headpiece just for YOU using shiny tape, faux flowers & more.

February 1: Beaded Monkey

Make a beaded mosaic monkey inspired by our current exhibition "The Secret Life of Earth."

March 2: Plant a Silly Succulent

Let's get green! Layer lots of dirt, rocks and a succulent of your choice in a recycled vase and decorate.

April 4: Create a Critter

Build a new animal using our recycled "cool trash" and hot glue.

May 9: Esther's Story Cloth

Inspired by the story cloths in our current exhibition "Esther and the Dream of One Loving Human Family," tell your own story with cloth and baubles. No sewing required!

June 6: Beaded Bee

Bedzaale your own bumble bee with sparkles from our treasure trove.
