AVAM's new visual feast YUMMM! features 34 visionary artists, joining forces with food scientists, farmers, nutritionists, environmental activists, psychologists, poets and humorists to publicly explore humankind's complex, multi-layered relationship with food.

Experience Encantada

Encantada is the new restaurant located on AVAM's 3rd floor that features local Chesapeake cooking. Drawing on the importance of "roots," both creative and culinary, Encantada supports regional farms, ranches, and aqua-culture, thus nurturing the concept of sustainability. Experience this enchanted escape where boundaries are blurred and tastes are celebrated.

Weekend Walk-In: Mosaic Frames
Saturday, June 3, 2017 • 1pm–4pm $5 per participant • 2nd floor Classroom, JRVC

Get inspired AVAM's shiny walls & create a mini mosaic picture frame! Join us for a hands-on, drop-in, art-making workshop once a month in the AVAM classroom! Our Education staff will help you explore new creative territory and make a project inspired by one of our beloved visionary artists. Supplies and boundless inspiration provided! All ages workshop, under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

A One-Day MOSAIC WORKSHOP with Rick Shelley! Come and learn the ancient art of mosaic. You will get a chance to learn about a variety of techniques and walk away with your own finished piece of art.

YogaWorks Baltimore and AVAM present a free outdoor yoga class on June 18, led by Keith Golden from YogaWorks Baltimore. All abilities and skills welcome. Bring your own yoga mat or towel. Come dressed in your favorite sunrise colors - pink, orange, yellow, red, purple.


Reverend Albert Lee Wagner: Miracle At Midnight
July 1, 2017 - February 28, 2018 3rd floor gallery, Zanvyl A. Krieger Main Building

AVAM's newest one-man show, "Reverend Albert Lee Wagner: Miracle At Midnight," is in celebration of one of America's most prominent visionary artists. Curated from 50+ Wagner masterpieces recently gifted to the museum by Gene and Linda Kangas, this show will also include two of Reverend Wagner's largest works, donated to AVAM's permanent collection ten years ago by Pat Handal.

Shiny Happy Things with Bob Benson
Saturday, July 8 • 11am–2pm $55, $40 Members

Join the creator of the Blinged-Out Universal Tree of Life (outside of AVAM's Main Entrance) in making your own FLASHIES: dynamic, sparkling decorations made from mirrors and marbles and such. Each participant will receive instruction on cutting and assemblage and will leave this workshop with at least two finished decorations to keep and dangle. For beginning and continuing students.
