AVAM seeks a Senior Maintenance Technician responsible for the hands-on maintenance of all physical components of the museum’s campus.  The Technician will understand and monitor facility and equipment needs and direct or perform maintenance of the physical plant (three buildings) HVAC systems and campus maintenance services in accordance with operations objectives.



  • Performs or directs all preventative maintenance and necessary repairs.

  • Maintains all service contracts and is the primary contact with outside service contractors including HVAC, electric, plumbing, trash collection, pest control, heavy snow removal and kitchen equipment maintenance.

  • Ability to be “on call” for emergencies at all times.

  • Responsible for directing, securing or performing landscaping surrounding the campus; snow removal (on-site equipment and secures heavy snow equipment removal contractors).

  • Executes all maintenance work orders to ensure that work orders are carried out promptly, efficiently and courteously.

  • Answers all support requests necessary and in a timely manner.

  • Maintains the shop and storage areas in a clean, orderly and secure manner.

  • Ensures adherence to company safety standards, policies and procedures.

  • Maintains an adequate inventory of maintenance supplies, materials and equipment.

  • Backup for the Facilities Coordinator.

  • Occasionally work AVAM events.

  • Assist with event setup/breakdown as needed.


This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the CFO/COO. Annual salary range ($58K-$62K); Competitive benefits package.

qualifications
  • 5+ years of building maintenance experience.

  • HVAC universal certification preferred.

  • General knowledge of construction and building trades: electrical, boilers and chillers, plumbing, carpentry, welding.

  • Experience and proficiency in the use of all maintenance equipment and tools.

  • Sensitivity to the safety and security procedures necessary to protect personnel, visitors, and public property.

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.), pulling and pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crawling and crouching, climbing ladders, operating scissor lift.

  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Dependability, punctuality and excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and independently on projects.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
