Virtual Artist Talk: Visionary Mary Proctor with curator Gage Branda

Join us for an artist talk and discussion with Mary Proctor, also known as ‘Visionary Mary;’ and learn about Mary’s life, her artworks, and her continued artistic process. Special guest, AVAM Curator Gage Branda will be leading a discussion with Mary exploring the subjects and materials that make her work unique. Mary’s work is currently on display in the exhibition “The Strength to be Joyful: Messages from Mary Proctor.”

"The Strength to Be Joyful" is a visionary art exhibition celebrating the life, spirit, and creative journey of Mary Proctor. Using salvaged materials and deeply personal memories, she creates powerful, joy-filled works layered with handwritten messages, broken china, house paint, and all sorts of odds and ends from her flea market past.
