About the Event

Physician Jon Kolkin’s Inner Harmony photography series is currently on view in the AVAM’s exhibition Healing and the Art of Compassion.

Dr. Kolkin has decades of experience engaged in humanitarian work worldwide, and photographing in a diverse range of cultural settings. During this presentation he will share details about his immersive experiences, and their application to photographing both within the United States and abroad.

Inner Harmony consists of rare, intimate, and sensitive photographs of Buddhist monastics and laypeople taken over 13 years throughout Asia. It seeks to share universally relevant, fundamental principles, central to living a less stressful, more balanced life, regardless of one’s spiritual beliefs. This body-of-work is the recipient of over 20 international awards. His new book, Inner Harmony: Living in Balance, which includes forewords by the Dalai Lama and Queen Mother of Bhutan, was recently honored with second place for ‘Best Documentary Photography Book by a Professional’…
