About the Exhibition

"Opening just after the September 11th attack on the NY World Trade Center, this exhibition underscored there is essentially only one war - fought individually as the struggle between the power for good and the power for evil in one's own heart and actions, and collectively, as the deluded conviction that another person’s life is somehow worth something less than one’s own - AKA humanity’s most ancient evil. The artists in this poignant exhibition were nearly exclusively soldiers or civilians who had been directly involved in a war, somewhere, over the last 150 years. Visitors could participate by recording their own deeply personal answers to questions like, 'Can you name three things you love about someone you hate?,' or 'What is peace for you?.'" - Founder, Director, and Chief Curator, Rebecca Hoffberger
