The American Visionary Museum currently has the below job openings


AVAM seeks 3 part-time Security Guards. Day shift: 24-32 hrs/week (weekdays and weekends); Evening shift: 8-24 hrs/week (weekdays/weekends); and Evening shift (Wed-Sat, 4pm-12am). Primary duties:

  • Security of AVAM exhibitions and campus;
  • Monitor contractors, staff, and visitors in exhibition areas;
  • Enforce museum rules and follow security procedures;
  • Arm and disarm intrusion alarm as needed;
  • Provide documentation for incidents;
  • Follow emergency protocol if needed;
  • Provide excellent customer service to patrons. Answer questions about the exhibitions and facility.

Looking for a positive, dependable, quick learner. Must be able to possess the ability to regularly stand, walk and sit for extended periods. High School diploma or GED required. Background check required. Starting pay $10/ hour.

Apply your graphic design skills in a real-world experience for the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM). AVAM seeks a graphic design intern to create digital and print collateral about its exhibitions and other programs. The intern reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The internship is unpaid. However, college credit is available.


  • Create print and digital collateral for exhibitions and events, such as postcards, posters, signage, flyers, ads.
  • Edit images for digital publication
  • Other duties as assigned

Gain broad exposure to the field of marketing under the mentorship of the Director of Marketing and Communications. Learn about areas such as media relations, outreach, and social media. Help attract audiences to the exhibitions and other programs at the American Visionary Art Museum.

The position requires a minimum commitment of one semester and at least 8 hours per week. The internship is unpaid. However, college credit is available.


  • Help create social media content
  • Perform marketing outreach activities such as tabling and populating event calendars
  • Proof copy and edit images for the monthly e-newsletter
  • Assist with community and third-party partnerships for cross-promotion of events
  • Other duties as assigned
